The Type C-2 was adopted by the U.S. Army Air Corps in the early 1940s for pilots. It has a tight silhouette, designed to be worn as an inner layer under the A-2 flight jacket to keep warm. Originally made of wool knit, it is made of 16-ply cotton yarn that is tightly knitted at a high density, making it excellent for keeping warm, and being made of cotton, it is also easy to wash.
