Unofficially issued to the French Maquis via the OSS, this beautiful wool cap has a dark olive hue, perfect as a natural camouflage in the rural Gallic terrain. Essentially a clandestine cap that allows others in the know to acknowledge fellow members of the under- ground and allowing downed Allied Pilots to instantly recognize friendlies. First issued by Jack Hemingway to a trusted cadre of French resistance fighters and later becoming a recognised sign of all freedom fighters and enemies of the Axis.
