The shirt is made of patchwork checked fabric woven in Madras (now Chennai) in southeastern India, an essential part of the Ivy League style of the 1950s and 1960s. It features a texture and colour that cannot be achieved with domestically produced items. The shirt has a boxy silhouette and is open. A TRUE MADRAS label is sewn onto the collar.
